The University Election Committee informs that on the 9th of April 2008, during the election meeting of the Electors’ College, Vice-Rectors of Warsaw University of Technology were chosen for the 2008-2012 term of office.

The team of students of Warsaw University of Technology ”Swing”, consisting of: Karol Trocewicz (Chemistry, 3rd year), Dariusz Smoleń (Chemistry, 3rd year) and Radosław Kwapiszewski (Biotechnology, 3rd year) represented the Polish branch of L’OREAL and Warsaw University of Technology in the international finals of the L’OREAL Ingenius competition, which took place in Paris on the 11th-14th of March.

Rector of Warsaw University of Technology, prof. Włodzimierz Kurnik, Ph.D. D.Sc., was awarded an honorary doctorate by Kiev University of Technology.

On the 1st of February, the Polish Business Chamber for Advanced Technologies started its activity. It was founded by 11 largest Polish universities, i.a. Warsaw University of Technology, four institutes of the Polish Academy of Sciences, BRE BANK S.A. and BANK PEKAO S.A. and 96 Polish companies.

WUT students: Karol Trocewicz (3rd year of Chemistry), Radosław Kwapiszewski (4th year of Biotechnology) and Dariusz Smoleń (3rd year of Chemistry) are winners of the Polish finals of the Ingenius competition.

On the 12th of January 2008 in Kensington, California died professor Antoni Kazimierz Oppenheim. Professor Oppenheim was born on the 11th of August 1915 in Warsaw. He studied at Warsaw University of Technology.
