Aim of project
The subject of the dissertation is the Fortress of Warsaw, a 19th-century Russian large-scale fortifi ed facility located within the urban landscape of the capital city. The thesis comprised landscape objects: citadel, masonry and earth structures (forts, strong points), access infrastructure (roads: radiating
roadways, ring roads and access routes, bridges, railway tracks), greenery and water system without logistic support (barracks, warehouses, hospitals, etc.). The research includes conservation, urban planning and natural problems. The main aim of the dissertation is to create rules of protection and to incorporate the
military rings system into the recreational system of Warsaw.

The main issues:
Analysis to fi nd the main recreational characteristics of military objects;
Analysis of the historical and natural value for the objects with diff erent preference for recreation;
Analysis of rules of protection of greenery and in military objects.

Expected results
Protection of the large-scale military system of fortifi cation in the urban conditions. The results of the
dissertation:
Military object’s adaptation possibilities for recreational system;
Design and protection possibilities for diff erent functions of recreation;
Protection possibilities for historical military greenery and rules for nowadays landscape composition in military objects.
