Aim of project
Dynamic technological development has strong impact on civilization change in our contemporary world. Advances in construction technology, as well as its adoption of tools hitherto restricted to other industries, clearly change our approach to architecture and set new directions for its development. We are witnessing the decline of technocratic thinking and, at the same time, see more attempts to interact more closely with nature, reconstruct past methods of traditional building, seen as more advantageous from the environmental perspective. The goal of this project is to defi ne the model of an architectural object perceived as an entity composed of mutually interacting elements and solutions, in which traditional and modern technologies both serve environmental needs. This will be achieved through an analysis of two extreme attitudes towards the infi ltration of newest technologies in architecture: one which unconditionally embraces their application and the other which is traditional, ignorant of new civilization achievements or perceiving them as threats to mankind and their environment.
Expected results
The research should allow to defi ne common scope of objectives and actions, since in the end these seemingly opposing approaches can complement each other, creating architecture in line with sustainable development. The fi nal eff ect of the project will be a presentation of the ways in which traditional and advanced technologies can be integrated together in a combination which allows for potentially optimal fulfi lment of environmental objectives and creation of new use and aesthetic values. We also plan to focus on technologies which have greatest potential for creative coexistence with traditional methods.
