Aim of project
The proposed project is connected with research of phenomena related to damping and dissipative possibilities of special granular structures (loose grains encapsulated in an hermetic encapsulation, where underpressure is generated). The main aim of the project is possibly full examination of global mechanical properties of the previously mentioned special granular structures. At the next stage, the authors try to analyze the possibilities of applying such structures as damping of vibrations of elements in real mechanical systems.
Expected results
The innovatory part of this project is a proposal of a new smart structure, which, in some technical applications, can fully compete with the traditional group of materials belonging to the so-called intelligent materials. The main advantage of the proposed structure is the economic aspect. Controlling of the global mechanical properties of the discussed materials is quite simple and demands only application of the vacuum pump, enabling to generate the formerly selected underpressure value.
