Aim of project
The aim of the project is to construct the microsystem with wide range of application in peptidomics. The developed microsystem will be based on the basic set-up for the microelectrophoresis (μCE), but two types of sample transport in microchannels will be combined. This idea will make the system more versatile and easy for further development with next modules (microreactors, microdetectors etc.) Moreover, multilayer structure of the designed microsystem — each layer — each step of chemical process, signifi cantly reduce laboratory space needed by the measurement set-up. The peptides and proteins will be analyzed using optimized reactions which minimize the infl uence of the applied analytical procedure on the sample. Besides the construction of the multilayer microfl uidic system the crucial project step is proteins immobilization in the microreactor module or layer.
Expected results
The result of the project will be a miniaturized multilayer system for peptides analysis after enzymatic reaction and microelectrophoretic separation of its product in the fewmicroliter samples. The project is unique in Poland and very close to the projects from leading microbioanalytical laboratories in Europe. Brand new apparatus from the project funds will be the basis for the microelectrophoresis set-up development (which is currently the only one in Poland). Moreover, both studying microanalysis and peptydomics, and new measurement systems will allow to create fundamentals in further research on continuous fl ow-mode microanalysis, microlelectrophoretic systems.
