Aim of project
The objective of the project is to design, specify, implement a prototype and test the solution for QoS link. The QoS link aims to improve packet transfer characteristics the virtual connections offered by packet switched networks. The QoS link allows to provide packet transfer with constant bit rate, constant delay and improved packet loss characteristics. The QoS link uses additional mechanisms and algorithms such as: (1) ARQ (Automatic Repeat Request) scheme combined with FEC (Forward Error Correction) algorithms to improve packet loss characteristics and (2) playout buffer mechanism to control packet transfer delay characteristics
Expected results
The main Project results are:
1) design of the QoS link solution,
2) performance evaluation by simulations,
3) prototype implementation,
4) trials in testbed environment. The designed QoS link will allow to build the Service Overlay Networks able to provide QoS guaranties over the best effort IP networks.
