Aim of project
The main objective of the project is to establish a unified gravimetric reference frame for the whole territory of Poland for permanent GNSS stations and geodynamic test fields with the highest possible accuracy. Gravity values measured at gravimetric stations within such a frame will be compatible with the international gravimetric system. Observation of gravity changes is an important component of a complex approach to geodynamic studies. Natural and anthropological phenomena affect long period changes of gravity and could be monitored by Polish research teams involved in geodynamical studies. For that reason, establishing and maintenance of such system are very important tasks for the Polish scientific community.
Within the project nine new gravimetric stations have been established. Three of them were established at two main geodynamic test fields and three of them near existing permanent stations in Cracow and Wrocław. In the Pieniny Klippen Belt, sites have been located in Kacwin, Niedzica and Łącko and in the Sudety test field in Lubiąż, Kłodzko and Janowice Wielkie. Furthermore, five existing gravimetric sites were implemented: Józefosław, Borowa Góra, Borowiec, Lamkówko and Książ. The measurements were performed using FG-5 No. 230 absolute gravimeter.
Expected results
The project is aimed at establishing gravimetric reference frame for GNSS stations and geodynamical test fields. It will be accessible for the Polish scientific society related to Earth sciences such as geodesy, geophysics, geology etc. Results will also be used by the National Polish Geodetic Service for modernization of the Polish fundamental gravimetric network.
