Aim of project
Within the last few years a group of materials referred to as wood plastic composite (WPC) have become popular.
Technologies of manufacturing wood polymer composites are one of the fastest developing branches of the plastics industry. The technology used to manufacture these composites is not new. However, an interest in these materials is increasing due to new possibilities which have arisen as a result of the properties of these materials, allowing them to be used in many fi elds of the industry. These materials qualify to be introduced into small and medium sized businesses, thus creating new work places. The aim of the work within this research project is to develop a basis for the technology of manufacturing wood polymer composites from waste materials, to be available in the country to use in cooperation with small and medium businesses (MiSP). It will include factors ensuring the possibility of launching production, such as continuity of delivery and repetition of waste material properties as a host for these materials and wood origin fi llers. Developed technologies of manufacturing WPC include a machine park, which is available in chosen MiSP interested in launching production.
Expected results
It is expected that as a result of the project a know-how off er will be prepared for small and medium sized Polish businesses concerning manufacturing and processing technology of WPC including material possibilities, machine park and possibilities of selling WPC products. Above all, within the research project research techniques will be proposed allowing to evaluate utility properties of WPC.
