Producing and characterization of new materials from diatoms with different range of number and size of pores

aim of project
Diatoms will be used to produce new materials. They will be treated as powder to obtain bulk materials. The main aim of the project is to produce materials with a different range of number and size of pores which give different possible applications.

expected results
The main result of the project will be obtaining materials with nanopores which will be preserved from diatoms. Particularly, the results will allow to characterize the structure of such materials and their properties like fracture toughness.
