Aim of project

The research project aims mainly at developing new method as well as conducting investigations into the identification of kinematical parameters and characteristics of a model of artificial human hip joint. The results will pave the way for improving advancing that model. The mechanism is part of the experimental stand for testing the hip joint and human bone-muscle system to determine the data necessary for a simulation procedure of internal loadings. The concrete results of the project will consist in the design of artificial joint having a form of a separate part that can be mounted on the stand. The technical documentation and experimental investigation results having the form of characteristics will be provided as well. At the same time a virtual model of the human hip joint system will be developed basing on the patients’ CT data, combined with the virtual model of joint mechanism produced using the CosmosWorks and CosmosMotion software packages.

Expected results

It is expected that the results of investigations will be used in pre and post operative planning procedures for the patients needing the hip joint orthoplasty, particularly in the cases of custom design procedure.
