Aim of project
Elaborating a new method and computation procedures for stress assessment in manufactured surface layer of considerable non-homogeneity. This method is based on measurement of force or moment of force which is required to keep a sample in the upright position and it consists in removing surface layer residual stress in which is to be examined after abrasive machining (lapping).

Expected results
New method of residual stress measurement for surface layer of considerable non-homogeneity and medium or large thickness, e.g. after electroerosion machining, laser machining, superficial cold work and hybrid machining, ensuring higher accuracy than standard Philips-Weismana method. Prototype of computerized experimental stand for assessment of residual stress by a new method has been developed. Computation procedures indispensable in determining residual stress with a new method have been elaborated. Results of residual stress measurement were presented for typical machining methods.
