The Centre for Physical Education and Sports promotes physical training and sports among both students and the whole academic community of the Warsaw University of Technology.

Students in years 1-3 practice various sports disciplines that give them pleasure, satisfaction as well as improve their fitness and stamina. The most popular sports among male students are: basketball, volleyball, martial arts and body-building; swimming, aerobics and dance are usually practised by women students. Around 10000 students do sports and the most talented ones become members of the Academic Sports Club (AZS).

Every year the prestige and numbers of the Club increase. Male basketball and volleyball teams have achieved high standards and play in the national leagues. University students are ranked highly in national and academic sports meetings. Some of them represent Poland in international arenas, e.g. in rowing. The number of Club sections is also growing. There were 24 last year. The Club now comprises 1400 students.

A highly qualified staff of teachers and trainers (coaches) take care of the didactic and educational processes; five of them have the highest training qualifications.
