WUT in the Times Higher Education World University Ranking 2026

The Times Higher Education World University Ranking has been published since 2014.

Our University has maintained its position in the 1201–1500 range among approximately 2,200 ranked institutions from over 100 countries and territories.

The top ten consists exclusively of universities from the United Kingdom and the United States. The second ten is led by ETH Zurich and also includes two institutions from China (Tsinghua University and Peking University) and one from Singapore (National University of Singapore).

Among 42 Polish higher education institutions, the Warsaw University of Technology placed in the middle of the pack. The highest-ranked Polish universities were: Jagiellonian University (position range 501–600), Wrocław Medical University (position range 501–600), University of Warsaw (position range 601–800).

Each year, the ranking expands the pool of assessed institutions (2026 edition: 2,191). It currently relies on 17 performance indicators, grouped into five areas:

  • Teaching
  • Research Environment
  • Research Quality
  • Industry
  • International Outlook

The metrics considered include publication and citation data, numbers of academic staff, students, and doctoral candidates, as well as indicators of international cooperation and engagement with external stakeholders.

A crucial component, accounting for over 30% of the total score, is the Academic Reputation Survey, in which representatives of the global academic community evaluate universities based on their knowledge and experience.
