Professor Mariusz Malinowski, WUT Vice-Rector for Research, was elected in general elections as member of the IEEE Board of Directors. IEEE is an association of technical specialists with 500,000 members in 167 countries. Professor Malinowski will represent Chapter 6 and his term of office will be two years.
IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) is the world’s largest professional organisation of technical specialists, dedicated to advancing technology for the benefit of humanity. The organisation and its members inspire the global community through highly cited publications, conferences, technological standards, as well as professional and educational activities. IEEE serves as the financial and technical sponsor of more than 2,000 conferences worldwide and publishes over 200 prestigious journals with high impact factors.
Professor Mariusz Malinowski will represent Chapter 6 of IEEE, which associates 30,000 members from the following thematic groups (societies): IEEE Education Society (EDS), IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (IES), IEEE Product Safety Engineering Society (PSES), IEEE Professional Communication Society (PCS), IEEE Reliability Society (RLS), IEEE Society on Social Implications of Technology (SSIT), and IEEE Technology and Engineering Management Society (TEMS).
– My task will be to coordinate 7 societies, which bring together over 30 thousand members from over 100 countries, and to represent them at IEEE Board of Directors meetings – says Professor Mariusz Malinowski, WUT Vice-Rector for Research. – I wish to strengthen the collaboration of the societies comprising Chapter 6 by launching a joint programme of outstanding lecturers, educational programmes and student competitions in important areas such as climate changes, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, reliability and education at the age of fast technological change.
As Professor Malinowski says, a huge challenge is ongoing delivery of high quality of conferences and journals and finding a way to engage IEEE members from the industry.
