Warsaw University of Technology in the Shanghai Ranking 2024

ARWU 2024 includes eight universities from Poland. Apart from the Warsaw University of Technology, it includes: 

• Jagiellonian University (rank 401-500) 
• Warsaw University (rank 401-500) 
• Gdańsk University of Technology (rank 801-900) 
• AGH University of Kraków (rank 901-1000) 
• Wrocław Medical University (rank 901-1000) 
• Adam Mickiewicz University Poznań (rank 901-1000) 
• Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń (rank 901-1000) 

The top ranks, as usual, were taken by US HEIs: Harvard University, Stanford University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). 

This ranking includes only universities which employ winners of the most prestigious prizes (Nobel Prize, Fields Medal) or researchers who publish in the best journals (e.g., Nature, Science), or who published papers indexed in Science Citation Index-Expanded (SCIE) or Social Science Citation Index (SSCI). Every year, over 2500 universities are considered and in the end 1000 of them are ranked. The assessment is based on 6 indicators: 

• number of alumni who won the Nobel Prize or Fields Medals 
• number of staff who won the Nobel Prize (physics, chemistry, medicine, economics) or Fields Medals
• number of highly cited researchers (based on Clarivate)
• number of articles published in Nature or Science 
• number of papers indexed in Science Citation Index-Expanded or Social Science Citation Index 
• weighted scores of the above indicators divided by the number of full-time equivalent academic staff

Academic Ranking of World Universities is prepared by ShanghaiRanking Consultancy (previously by Jiao Tong University) and has been published since 2003.
