The World Para Athletics European Championships kicked off on August 20, 2018 in Berlin. Among the competing para-athletes is Aleksander Kossakowski accompanied by his guide runner Krzysztof Wasilewski, a student in his final year at WUT Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology; the duo produced a strong performance and won the 1500 m race.

Aleksander Kossakowski is a student of the Jan Kochanowski University in Kielce who has represented Poland since 2015. He has been working with his guide runner Krzysztof Wasilewski, a student of the Warsaw University of Technology, since April 2018. He entered the Championships in the group of blind and partially sighted para-athletes. Following a tight battle in the last 500 meters, Aleksander and Krzysztof were the first to cross the finishing line in a time of 4:22:45.

The next race was scheduled for Sunday, August 26, 2018. This time the distance was longer and more demanding: 5000 meters. This time the students took second place.

This is a huge success! Congratulations on behalf of the whole university community!
