A delegation from WUT visiting the United States
Representatives of the Warsaw University of Technology took part in the Symposium and Congress of the Council of Polish Engineers in North America and visited Silicon Valley. The trip was part of our university's collaboration with the Poland in Silicon Valley Center for Science, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship.
The Symposium and Congress of the Council of Polish Engineers in North America (November 7–10) gathered around 70 participants from Poland, the United States, and Canada, representing various fields of science, industry, business, as well as government agencies and local authorities. The discussions addressed the involvement of Polish universities in the Poland in Silicon Valley program, along with specific issues such as transatlantic engineering collaboration, sustainable development and environmental protection, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity, and innovative materials and technologies. The primary goal of the event was to enhance transatlantic cooperation and strengthen the engagement of Polish researchers and engineers in the United States.
The congress opened with the panel "Introducing Polish Science, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship to Leading Global Stages," featuring Prof. Adam Woźniak, Vice-Rector for Development at the Warsaw University of Technology. In his speech, Prof. Woźniak outlined the Warsaw University of Technology's vision for collaboration with the Poland in Silicon Valley Center for Science, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship (PolSV). He emphasized the vital role of building international partnerships in science and technology and discussed the university's initiatives to enhance its global standing.
During the Symposium and Congress of the Council of Polish Engineers in North America, the Warsaw University of Technology was also represented by Prof. Paweł Popielski from the Faculty of Building Services, Hydro and Environmental Engineering, Prof. Marek Henczka – Dean of the Faculty of Chemical and Process Engineering, Prof. Andrzej Garbacz – Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Prof. Tomasz Chmielewski – Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, and Prof. Marianna Jacyna – Dean of the Faculty of Transport.
The congress provided an opportunity to establish connections, exchange experiences, and collaboratively seek solutions to the key challenges facing the contemporary engineering world.
After the conclusion of the Congress and Symposium, the delegation from the Warsaw University of Technology visited several locations in Silicon Valley: the Poland in Silicon Valley Center headquarters in Palo Alto, the Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence (HAI) at Stanford University, and the Hoover Institution. The representatives of WUT also participated in a meeting with the Mayfield Venture Fund. The goal of the meeting was to discuss the collaboration between science and industry in Silicon Valley and the activities of the Poland in Silicon Valley Center (PolSV).
The activities between WUT and PolSV involve promoting and publishing the university's research findings, as well as collaborating with industry. The Poland in Silicon Valley Center, inaugurated in California, serves as a unique bridge between Polish institutions and Silicon Valley, facilitating the exchange of knowledge, experiences, and resources.
