Adam has completed the first year of the Power Engineering field of study at the Faculty of Power and Aeronautical Engineering.

Once again, members of the KNE Power Engineers Student Research Group, operating with the Faculty of Power and Aeronautical Engineering, enjoy success in the National Power Engineering Competition.

Last year’s success of Teodor Sawicki has now been followed by Adam Zielinski, who in the 13th edition of the competition was awarded the title of winner for his paper entitled “The role of the district heating sector in energy transformation”. Adam discussed the issue of district heating from the perspective of Poland’s energy policy by 2040, referring to three areas: fair transformation, zero-emission energy system and good air quality.

As for fair transformation, the paper discussed the issue of energy poverty, its causes and possible impact of the transformation on improvement of the situation. Then he pointed to, among others, the fuel structure in Polish district heating, technologies which may reduce CO2 emissions, impact of individual heating installations and government policies on air quality and possible changes in district heating structure. The district heating sector is responsible for circa ¼ of the Polish emissions, while district heating systems in many parts of the country are still not energy efficient; the need to reduce emissions and meet high standards which the sector faces in the coming years force it to take action and take advantage of all possibilities.

Adam has completed the first year of the Power Engineering field of study at the Faculty of Power and Aeronautical Engineering. He is interested in sailing, sports, urban planning and literature.

The Professor Jacek Malko Polish Energy Competition is an initiative which gives young people the opportunity to present their ideas and opinions to experts in the field and aims at promoting energy and ecology awareness, as well as discusses the issue of rational energy management, sustainable development and environment protection.

The final conference will take place on the 8th of September at 11:00 and will be broadcast on the fanpage of the competition.
