Collaboration of WUT and Technical University Dresden continued
Staff and student exchanges, research projects and joint/double doctorates are the main areas of new agreements concluded between WUT and TU Dresden. Representatives of both universities met on 3 October 2024 at the Warsaw University of Technology.
WUT and TU Dresden started their relations many years ago. This led to, among other things, joint research projects and first double doctorates. Now the universities have decided to continue their cooperation in fields such as research and administrative staff exchange, student exchange, research projects, lectures and symposia organization, information exchange, study programmes (i.e., joint/double diplomas or online education), European programmes (Erasmus+ and Horizon Europe) and other agreed forms. The agreement was signed by the Warsaw University of Technology Vice-Rector for Research Professor Mariusz Malinowski and TU Dresden Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Professor Michael Kobel. The agreement was concluded for 5 years. Its implementation will be supervised by Professor Anna Boczkowska (WUT Faculty of Materials Science and Engineering) and Professor Maik Gude (TUD Faculty of Lightweight Engineering and Polymer Technology).
During the visit of the representatives of the Technical University Dresden at the Warsaw University of Technology, a framework agreement was also signed on joint doctoral degree award proceedings. It includes general conditions on preparation and proceedings of jointly supervised doctoral dissertations. It says that separate agreements will be signed for each doctoral candidate, taking into consideration, i.e., time spent by the candidate at the universities, procedures of the reviewers’ assessment of the doctoral dissertation or its defence. The agreement on joint/double doctorates was signed by the WUT Vice-Rector for Research Professor Mariusz Malinowski and TUD Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Professor Michael Kobel.
During the WUT and TU Dresden meeting, there were also presentations on the current cooperation and its development, on the completed projects on composite materials, biodegradable polymers, sustainable economy, especially in view of regional partnerships and projects developed by doctoral candidates and students.
The visit was also an opportunity to talk about tightening the cooperation between the universities. The meeting was attended by the Saxony Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer and Mazovian Voivod Mariusz Frankowski, which created a platform for exchanging opinions and ideas on the partnership of the whole regions.
