Coronavirus and the Functioning of the WUT - The Latest Information

The latest information on coronavirus

The latest information on coronavirus

We are gradually restoring the functioning of the Warsaw University of Technology. However, the pandemic continues, so we are acting with the utmost care, following the developed guidelines and rules. What should you know?

Suspected cases of coronavirus infection

We recommend that employees and students of the WUT who suspect that they may have contracted coronavirus contact a sanitary-epidemiological station or a hospital with an isolation unit. For more information, visit: pacjent.gov.pl.

Consultants from the Patient Information Helpline will answer your questions on how to proceed in relation to a suspected case of coronavirus: dial 800 190 590 or (+48) 22 125 66 00 (number for those calling from abroad).

Coronavirus infection and quarantine

In the event of a confirmed coronavirus infection, you have to notify the head of your organizational unit in accordance with §11 of the Rector’s Decision No. 33/2020.

It is recommended that persons returning from abroad stay at home for a period of 14 days.

The new academic year

The decision has not yet been taken as to how the learning and the work will be organized in the new academic year. This means that we do not know whether classes will be held in classrooms starting from October — be it at the university, remotely or in a mixed formula. A hybrid option is being considered, whereby lectures, recitation classes and language courses will be conducted remotely, while on-campus laboratory and project classes will be held in small groups, observing the required sanitary measures. Work is under way to develop an optimal solution. As soon as decisions in this regard are taken, we will announce them on the website and in the WUT social media.

For now, we are planning for the 2020/2021 academic year to commence on October 1.

Visits, including foreign trips and visits from abroad

Until further notice, trips of employees and students of the Warsaw University of Technology are suspended. In specific, justified cases, the Rector may consent to such a trip. A justified request should be presented by the head of a basic organizational unit (the dean of a faculty), a university-wide organizational unit or by the Chancellor. The request should be submitted to the Rector.

Dormitories

The accommodation process for the new academic year is under way. We also want to make it possible for students who have not lived in dormitories before, including newly admitted students, to find accommodation there. The dormitories will be open, but they will operate in accordance with the rules and safety requirements. Visits are suspended until further notice.

In case of doubts or questions, please contact the administration of a given student dormitory.

Issuing specific recommendations always remains at the discretion of the manager of a given dormitory.

We recommend that you follow the fan page of the Accommodation Commission of the WUT Student Council on Facebook.

Admissions

This year, after receiving the decision on being admitted to study at the WUT, applicants will not be required to submit the documents immediately. They will be asked to submit them by email. They will be required to provide the documents in paper versions, but at a later date. The date will be determined and announced on the WUT website. However, it will not happen earlier than in mid-September.

More information can be found in the International Students Office [How to Apply] tab.

Common areas

The WUT buildings are not closed (although visits to the dormitories have been suspended until further notice), but entry into them is or may be restricted or limited. The final decision on the availability of a building is made by the manager of a given facility.

Visitors to the WUT buildings must follow the guidelines and recommendations (they may differ depending on the building), such as covering your nose and mouth with a face mask, a protective visor or a cloth; using a hand sanitizer, measuring temperature, recording visits in visitor logs, including providing contact details and information about the purpose of a visit. These rules also apply to the WUT employees and students.

Would you like to get in touch with a WUT employee, the Dean’s office, a department or another office? First, visit the website of this unit — this is where you will find the information about the working hours and principles of operation. Instead of visiting, send an email or call. We all try to limit the personal contact to a minimum.
