Our scientists in World’s TOP 2% Scientists 2023

World’s TOP 2% Scientists lists authors of the most cited publications.

The latest ranking World’s TOP 2% Scientists includes 77 academics from the Warsaw University of Technology. This is as many as 18 people more than last year. The list is prepared by Stanford University in collaboration with Elsevier and SciTech Strategies.

World’s TOP 2% Scientists consists of two rankings; the first one covers the whole academic career (based on information from 1960 onwards), and the other one is based on bibliometric data for the last calendar year.

In the first ranking, there are 64 academics from the Warsaw University of Technology, in the other one, 36 persons. This gives in total 77 names, since some academics appear in both rankings.

Most of our scientists (26) represent the field of Engineering. Then there are Enabling & Strategic Technologies (21 academics), Information & Communication Technologies (11 academics), Physics & Astronomy (11 academics), Chemistry (5 academics), Clinical Medicine (2 academics), Mathematics & Statistics (1 scientist).

The ranking covering the whole academic achievements includes 1244 scientists from Poland representing 155 institutions (universities and research institutes). The ranking with last year’s achievements includes 1305 persons from 148 Polish institutions.

The ranking World’s TOP 2% Scientists is developed on the basis of bibliometric criteria such as total citation number, Hirsch index (h-index) or Schreiber co-authorship adjusted index (hm-index). The authors also take into consideration the position and role of the author among the publication co-authors (first, last place).

Full rankings can be found on the website of the Elsevier publishing house.
