Rector of the Warsaw University of Technology received the Honoris Causa Doctorate

Professor Jan Szmidt, Ph.D., DSc has received the Honoris Causa Doctorate from the National Technical University of Ukraine. – It is a very important day for the Warsaw University of Technology and for our countries, I assume – said Rector Szmidt. – Thank you very much for this privilege.

 The ceremony took place on the 4th of September in the National Technical University of Ukraine named after Igor Sikorski. Two universities have been cooperating with each other for years.

During the ceremony, Rector Szmidt gave a lecture concerning the reform of the tertiary education in Poland. He also talked about the challenges that technical universities have to face in the modern world. Rector Szmidt underlines the importance of further cooperation between Warsaw and Kiev Polytechnics.  

- The technology will determine the direction of civilization development - in good and in a bad manner – said, prof. Jan Szmidt – It’s a tough challenge that Poland and Ukraine have to face, as well as other European countries.
