Our university shares the rank with the following Polish universities: Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow, Cracow University of Technology, University of Gdańsk, Gdańsk University of Technology, University of Lodz, Lodz University of Technology, Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, University of Silesia, Silesian University of Technology, SWPS University, Warsaw University of Life Sciences, University of Wrocław, Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences and Wrocław University of Science and Technology. The number of Polish universities included in this year’s ranking increased by five.

In total, 1,527 universities were ranked, up by 131 compared to the previous edition. The number of countries represented in the ranking increased by one and now amounts to 93.

The winners of this year’s ranking are the University of Oxford (1^st place), Stanford University (2^nd place) and Harvard University (3^rd place). The ranking is clearly dominated by US universities, which occupy as many as 14 places in the top twenty.

The Times Higher Education World University Ranking is developed by “The Times Higher Education”, a British magazine devoted to higher education. The ranking is prepared based on 13 criteria grouped into five pillars: teaching, research, citations, international outlook and industry income. The authors of the ranking analyze information from their database and from academic reputation surveys.

The Times Higher Education World University Ranking is one of the four key world education rankings, the other being QS, the Shanghai Ranking and the U-Multirank.
