Thank you for being part of the tenth WUT Christmas Market

Ten festive stalls, WUT gadgets and a charity collection, vendors offering treats, crafts and handmade goods, wonderful scents, atmospheric music, awards for active students and doctoral candidates, Christmas trees for our faculties, and the new festive illumination of the Main Building – this is, in short, how we can sum up the Christmas Market, the most magical event at Warsaw University of Technology.

On 4 and 5 December, the square in front of the Main Building looked like a festive town.

In the WUT stalls – as always – visitors could find university gadgets such as hats, mugs, the iconic socks, plush bears, bags and drawstring sacks, Christmas baubles shaped like the Main Building, a new series of honey from our apiary, as well as chocolates and gingerbread. Many of the items also featured details marking WUT’s 200^th anniversary. Gifts could be received in exchange for a donation to the Christmas Grant fund – a distinction awarded to WUT students and doctoral candidates involved in promoting our university. The WUT stalls were staffed by outstanding volunteers – students, doctoral candidates and employees, including faculty vice‑deans and recipients of the Christmas Grant.

Apart from the WUT stalls, there were many others. Visitors could stock up on cheeses, cakes, breads, teas, healthy snacks, candles, handmade bags and scarves, oil paintings, watercolours, crafts made from natural stones, and Christmas ornaments and decorations.

On the first day of the Market, we announced the winners of this year’s Christmas Grant – 20 exceptional students and doctoral candidates from our university. This means the total number of our grant recipients has now reached 114. And that wasn’t the end of the attractions. Deans and vice‑deans of WUT faculties symbolically received Christmas trees and decorations. We also unveiled an entirely new – and slightly fairy‑tale‑like – festive illumination of the Main Building. What does it look like? At our event, you could even meet Santa Claus himself and take a photo with him.

This was the tenth edition of the Christmas Market. It was quite special, as it took place during the celebration of the 200^th anniversary of Warsaw University of Technology. We hope that the amount collected for the Christmas Grant will make it even more special.
