The Three Minute Thesis® (3MT®) is a competition held at universities worldwide. It is aimed at PhD students, challenging them to present their research in just three minutes, without slides, multimedia, or props, in a way that is engaging and understandable to a non-specialist audience. The 3MT® was created by the University of Queensland in 2008 and is now organized at 900 universities across 85 countries. In Poland, the competition has previously been held only in the Silesian Voivodeship by the Science Popularization Center of the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice.

The 3MT® competition at WUT is organized as part of the "Excellence Initiative – Research University" project at Warsaw University of Technology.
