The idea of Bartłomiej Gajda and Michał Grzeszczyk – students of the Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology, won two awards in the international AppsUp competition organized by Huawei. Chefs' was selected as the Best App and honored with the Excellent Student Award.

The competition was open to teams who developed a mobile application exploiting HMS (Huawei Mobile Services) capabilities. From over 4,000 solutions from around the world, the best 20 from each of the five regions (Europe, Pacific Asia, Latin America, Middle East and Africa, China) were selected.

Bartłomiej Gajda and Michał Grzeszczyk's app, which uses artificial intelligence to facilitate the management of recipes, reached the European AppsUp final. After the jury and the audience voted, it turned out that it had received the most points and was chosen the best application in the competition. It also received an award for the best student team.

– We are extremely grateful for the distinction in such a prestigious competition and we are proud that the application, which was created solely by the two of us, was able to win against such strong competition – points out Bartek.

As the winners of AppsUp, the WUT students were invited to the European Innovation Day Vienna 2021.

– During the conference, we had the opportunity to present our app and talk about the competition itself with other winners and representatives of Huawei – says Michał.

An event such as the European Innovation Day Vienna is an opportunity for Chefs' creators to establish contacts

Recently, the creators of Chefs' also took part in The AI Summit London, Stage Two and International Workshop on Artificial Intelligence and Education. Soon they will be at the AI Summit New York.

– We are going to demonstrate there what new features related to the AI-assisted analysis of recipes will soon be introduced to our app – announces Bartek.

Bartek and Michał are working actively on improving Chefs'. In addition to improving the existing functionalities, they are planning to introduce functions enabling the analysis of recipes. Ultimately, each recipe available in the application will contain information about the number of calories, the amount of protein or fat in the given dish recipe.

– This will allow users to better choose dishes that suit their needs – adds Michał.
