Together for Artificial Intelligence and the digital economy

The agreement is intended, in particular, to promote the exchange of information, knowledge, and experience in the field of artificial intelligence research; to jointly initiate and carry out research and R&D projects, including applications for funding from national and international sources; and to build and develop communication channels between research teams. The parties also plan to organize joint scientific conferences, symposia, seminars, and workshops, as well as to enhance the competencies of academic and technical staff, including through reciprocal internships and mentoring. The agreement provides for cooperation in the education of doctoral students at the doctoral schools of the University of Warsaw and the Warsaw University of Technology, making use of the scientific and infrastructural potential of the IDEAS Research Institute; the development of recommendations concerning the ethical, legal, and social aspects of artificial intelligence development; and the identification of new application areas for developed algorithms and data structures.

The agreement was signed by the Rector of UW Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak, the Rector of WUT Prof. Krzysztof Zaremba, and the Director of the IDEAS Research Institute Prof. Piotr Sankowski.

The signing of the agreement was also attended by, among others, UW Vice-Rector for Research Prof. Zygmunt Lalak, WUT Vice-Rector for Research Prof. Mariusz Malinowski, UW Chancellor Robert Grey, Director of the Institute of Informatics at UW Prof. Filip Murlak, Director of the Division of Artificial Intelligence and Computational Methods at WUT Prof. Jacek Mańdziuk, and Director for International and Academic Cooperation at the IDEAS Research Institute Grażyna Żebrowska, PhD.
