WUT Laboratories on the Polish Research Infrastructure Map
The Polish Research Infrastructure Map is a collection of key laboratories, facilities, and research systems of national or international importance that demonstrate the highest level of scientific excellence. Six infrastructures from our University are included on the map. The map is maintained and updated by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
PL 6G: National laboratory for 6G networks and services and its environment
This is a direct continuation of the PL 5G project carried out by a consortium led by the Warsaw University of Technology.
"The project involves expanding research infrastructure that is unique on a national scale, enabling practical research into new techniques and solutions in the field of next-generation networks and services" – explains Andrzej Bęben, PhD, project leader at the Warsaw University of Technology. "5G networks were designed to efficiently support the mobility of devices and users, which should consequently ensure effective communication in society."
The project involves 11 researchers from our University, as well as the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences – Poznań Supercomputing and Networking Centre, AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków and, during the first stage of the project, Wrocław University of Science and Technology, Gdańsk University of Technology, and the National Institute of Telecommunications – National Research Institute.
Centre for Advanced Materials and Technologies of the Warsaw University of Technology
This is one of the largest investments in research and development in the field of so-called "high-tech" in Poland. It hosts interdisciplinary research and development projects in microelectronics and photonics, quantum technologies, metrology, printed electronics and textronics, metrology, energy conversion and storage, as well as biotechnology and bioengineering. Quantum and space technologies are also being developed.
The infrastructure includes technological as well as characterization and diagnostic laboratories equipped with advanced research and process equipment. Work is carried out in ISO 4–7 cleanrooms under controlled environmental conditions, including reduced vibration and electromagnetic interference levels. This standard ensures the repeatability and stability of processes, which are essential when working at higher Technology Readiness Levels (TRL). A key element of the infrastructure is a semiconductor technology line capable of processing substrates with diameters of up to 200 mm.
In addition to cleanrooms, the infrastructure is equipped for the installation of measurement and characterization equipment, assembly and hermetic packaging stations for components and micro- and nanoelectronic and photonic systems, MEMS/MOEMS microsystems and sensors, as well as stations for testing product parameters and reliability.
"The CEZAMAT infrastructure enables research into the design of semiconductor materials, devices and systems, as well as advanced scientific work in the areas of microsystem technologies, metrology, and 2D/3D/4D imaging methods for technical and biological objects, including cells, organoids and tissue structures" – emphasizes Piotr Wiśniewski, PhD, Head of the Intelligent Semiconductor Systems Department. "It also supports the development of battery technologies, micro-fuel cells, memristor technologies and 2D materials. It enables research into microsystems in the broadest sense, sensors, and photonic components and systems."
Work on many technologies is carried out in cooperation with various faculties of the Warsaw University of Technology, including the Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology, the Faculty of Mechatronics, and the Faculty of Physics.

- "EPOS – European Plate Observing System" is a national research infrastructure that forms part of an international network included on the ESFRI Roadmap. The leader is the Institute of Geophysics of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw; from the University, the Faculty of Geodesy and Cartography is involved.
- "Research in the Field of Elementary Particle Physics Using CERN Infrastructure" is an international research infrastructure. The leader is the Henryk Niewodniczański Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Kraków; the Faculty of Physics contributes on behalf of the University.
- "European Synchrotron Radiation Facility" is part of an international research infrastructure included on the ESFRI Roadmap. The leader is the Institute of Physics of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw; the Faculty of Chemistry participates on behalf of the University.
- "SLICES-PL: Scientific Large Scale Infrastructure for Computing / Communication Experimental Studies – Implementation of the Polish Node" is a national research infrastructure contributing to an international infrastructure included on the ESFRI Roadmap. The leader is the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Poznań; the Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology is involved on behalf of the University.
