WUT and EXATEL are working on solutions for 6G technology
The joint project "Fast wireless optical transmission for secure communication" has received funding from the National Center for Research and Development, and will be carried out under the Poland - Berlin / Brandenburg cooperation.
Prof. Jarosław Turkiewicz from the Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology is the initiator of the project devoted to the development of the sixth generation telecommunications technologies Teodor Buchner, PhD. Eng., is in turn the bridge between the academic world and business - at the same time associated with the Faculty of Physics and the Exatel company, which has already run, among others, RAPID 5G project.
The University of Technology and Exatel will implement their project with the support of German partners - Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute (the equivalent of the Polish Łukasiewicz Network) and VI Systems. Each of the partners will make their intellectual contribution to the work on the solution, each of them will also be responsible for a specific technological segment: from the construction and software of unique sources and protocols based on them, up to the level of technology testing.
There are plans to demonstrate the telecommunications link, which the Polish side will prepare on the basis of innovative components provided by the German side. The objective is to prepare a full package that will allow for full commercialization of the new technology. - Warsaw University of Technology, in close cooperation with the industry, opens new markets and at the same time new research areas for photonics and telecommunications - says Teodor Buchner, PhD. Eng.
The solution being prepared may bring one more important benefit - providing European users with technological autonomy, the importance of which has been emphasized by the changes and challenges of the pandemic reality.
We can expect the effects of the work in 2 years. As our researcher and expert on R&D Exatel emphasizes, the short market perspective is crucial. - That is why it is so important to cooperate with an academic partner with whom we have a chance to celebrate the implementation, and not only share the experience of many years of research and development - he sums up.
The cooperation between the University of Technology and Exatel SA dates back to 2017. An agreement was then signed on joint substantive work, knowledge exchange and technological support of the signatories.
