The latest Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2027 (THE WUR), featuring a record number of higher education institutions, have now been published. Here is how our University performed in this year’s ranking.
The results of the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2027 (THE WUR) have been announced. Warsaw University of Technology is ranked in the 1401–1600 band. This year’s edition includes a record 2,297 universities from 118 countries and territories (106 institutions more than in the previous edition).
The top ten is made up exclusively of institutions from the USA (MIT, Princeton, Stanford, Harvard, Caltech, Berkeley and Yale) and the UK (Oxford in 1st place, Cambridge and ICL). The second ten is headed by universities from China (Tsinghua) and Switzerland (ETH).
This year’s ranking includes 44 institutions from Poland, 13 of which are technical universities. The highest-ranked Polish institutions are Wroclaw Medical University (451–500) and Jagiellonian University (551–600).
The THE World University Rankings assess universities based on 17 indicators grouped into five key areas, with different weightings adding up to 100%:
- Teaching (29.5%) – based primarily on the results of an academic reputation survey (15%), while also considering the numbers of students, academic staff and doctoral students.
- Research environment (29%) – largely based on the results of an academic reputation survey (18%), as well as research income and the number of publications indexed in Elsevier’s Scopus database.
- Research quality (30%) – several indicators relating to publications and citations (Scopus), including FWCI.
- International outlook (7.5%) – the proportion of international students and researchers, as well as publications resulting from international collaboration.
- Industry (4%) – the university’s research income from industry, as well as patents.
