WUT triumphs in the Genius Universitatis competition

Warsaw University of Technology triumphs in the Genius Universitatis competition

The number 13 proved lucky for Warsaw University of Technology. On Friday, March 13, the awards in the 13th edition of the Genius Universitatis competition were presented. The WUT team won the main prize in the Event category, secured two second places in the Gadget and Press Advertising categories, and finished as runner-up in the Genius Stars category, yielding only to one other team in the final. The awards were accepted by Krzysztof Szymański, Head of the Communication and Promotion Office at Warsaw University of Technology. The competition is organised by Perspektywy.

The Genius Universitatis competition is addressed to marketing, communication and promotion departments at higher education institutions. Its aim is to identify and recognise the best promotional and branding activities carried out by university teams. Participants submit innovative campaigns, events, gadgets and other creative initiatives in the field of academic marketing, which are evaluated by a panel of industry experts chaired by Prof. Artur Krajewski of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw.

This year, nearly 40 higher education institutions from across the country took part in the competition. The jury selected the winning projects from over 130 submissions.

‘The three awards I had the pleasure of receiving at the gala show that a strong, united team can achieve fantastic results. My sincere congratulations to everyone who contributed to this success of our University. Being recognised by industry experts confirms that our work has been noticed and that we excel at what we do,’ said Krzysztof Szymański, Head of the Communication and Promotion Office at the Warsaw University of Technology.

“Christmas with Warsaw University of Technology” - the main prize in the Event category

University life is not only about studying, and a university is more than just buildings and people – it is a true community. This is the message we convey through our November–December initiatives held under the banner of “The Magic of Christmas.” In 2025, our festive initiative consisted of four elements: a charity Christmas Market, the “Christmas grant” Christmas grant supporting our students and doctoral candidates, Christmas trees for the faculties, and a festive illumination of the WUT Main Building, which won everyone’s hearts – as reflected in hundreds of reels, stories and posts on social media. The concept behind the entire event was developed by the team from the Communication and Promotion Office at the Warsaw University of Technology, with numerous WUT units and external partners contributing to its implementation.

Ornaments in the Shape of the WUT Main Building – 2nd Place in the Gadget Category

The Main Building is a symbol of our University – a living symbol, featured in a wide range of projects and activities. This time, we decided to combine its unique character with the magic of Christmas, resulting in a series of one-of-a-kind baubles. They were custom-made based on our original design, hand-blown from glass tubes, hand-painted and decorated, and produced in Poland. The baubles were available for purchase during the WUT charity Christmas Market.

The #AlwaysCurious Campaign – 2nd Place in the Press Advertising Category

In this category, the graphic design of the #AlwaysCurious campaign was recognised. Targeting secondary school students considering studies at the Warsaw University of Technology, the campaign features the slogan “Spark your curiosity. Study at the Warsaw University of Technology,” accompanied by a brain-inspired visual. It also highlights the names of WUT faculties, helping candidates become familiar with the University from the outset.

Finalists in the “Genius Stars” Category

The Communication and Promotion team advanced to the final stage of the “Genius Stars” category, which comprehensively evaluates the activities carried out by teams responsible for university branding and promotion. Reaching the final stage alone is a significant achievement, demonstrating that consistent and well-conceived branding efforts are recognised by the industry.
