This year the IGF was held for the sixteenth time

From 6 to 10 December 2021, the international Internet community gathered in Katowice during the World Internet Governance Forum (IGF). The event was also attended by representatives of our University.

This year's forum was held under the theme "Internet United", intended to illustrate the idea of an open, free and undivided Internet.

Various aspects of this topic were discussed by ministers and heads of international organizations, business representatives, including the largest and most famous Internet companies from different continents, activists of non-governmental organizations and the scientific community, theorists and practitioners.

At the opening of the summit, the Warsaw University of Technology was represented by Prof. Adam Woźniak, PhD Eng., Vice-Rector for Development. Our researchers took part in expert panels: Zbigniew Wawrzyniak, PhD Eng. and Grzegorz Kasprowicz, PhD Eng. from the Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology were the organizers and participants of the panel on quantum technologies, and Prof. Ewa Niewiadomska-Szynkiewicz, PhD, DSc - NASK's Deputy Director, and Director for Research, and a researcher from the Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology, participated in the debate on digital sovereignty and solidarity. Amongst the experts in the discussions were also Agata Ferreira, PhD from the Faculty of Administration and Social Sciences (panel on various dimensions of the fintech industry) and Witold Skomra, PhD Eng. from the Faculty of Management (panel on cybersecurity and crisis management).

Internet Governance Forum - The World Internet Governance Forum is an annual, international convention established by the United Nations. It is a platform for exchanging ideas and experiences in the field of Internet management.
