The Times Higher Education World University Rankings by Subject is one of the most important rankings for higher education institutions

Our university has once again been included in the Times Higher Education subject rankings, which feature nearly 1,500 universities from 97 countries and territories. WUT is present in four out of the eleven subject areas of the ranking, maintaining last year’s position in each.

Computer Science – ranked in the 601-800 range

The leaders of this year's ranking are the University of Oxford, the University of Cambridge, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The list includes 20 Polish universities, with the University of Warsaw ranking the highest (in the 176-200 range). In the 601-800 range, along with our Warsaw University of Technology, are AGH University of Science and Technology and Silesian University of Technology.

Engineering (General engineering, Electrical and electronic engineering, Mechanical and aerospace engineering, Civil engineering, Chemical engineering) – ranked in the 801-1000 range

In this field, the best universities are Harvard University, Stanford University, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Poland is represented by 18 institutions, with the top performers (in the 601-800 range) being AGH University of Science and Technology and Gdańsk University of Technology. Along with WUT, in the 801-1000 range are: Opole University of Technology, Silesian University of Technology, and Wrocław University of Science and Technology.

Physical Sciences (Mathematics and statistics, Physics and astronomy, Chemistry, Geology, environmental, earth and marine sciences) – ranked in the 1001+ range

The top positions are held by the California Institute of Technology, Harvard University, and Stanford University. This subject ranking includes 19 institutions from Poland, with the highest ranked being the University of Warsaw (501-600).

Business and economics (Business and management, Accounting and finance, Economics and econometrics) – ranked in the 801+ range

The top positions in this ranking are held by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the University of Oxford, and Stanford University. Poland is represented by 18 higher education institutions, with the highest ranked being Jagiellonian University and Silesian University of Technology (501-600).

The subject rankings of THE take into account 18 indicators across five areas: Teaching, Research Environment, Research Quality, Industry, and International Outlook. The weight of these areas varies depending on the specifics of the fields being ranked.
