Distinction for our student in the Women’s Energy in Transition program
Agata Cieślik from the Faculty of Power and Aeronautical Engineering received a distinction in the 3rd edition of the Women’s Energy in Transition – Polish Edition program, organized by Dalkia Poland. The program supports and promotes women in the energy sector, with a particular focus on the energy transition.
Agata Cieślik’s award-winning thesis focused on modern methods of hydrogen production and storage, covering technologies at various stages of development – from the research phase to commercialization. Her analysis aimed to estimate the annual hydrogen production of a 1 MW PEM electrolyser operating in conjunction with a 1 MWp photovoltaic farm and a battery storage system. The project included simplified calculations to determine the optimal capacity of the battery storage system in order to maximise hydrogen production and identified key factors influencing the process.
The thesis supervisor was Marcin Wołowicz, PhD, associate professor at the Faculty of Power and Aeronautical Engineering.
“My goal is to take an active part in implementing the energy transition in a sustainable way—one that considers key aspects such as energy security, environmental protection, and the affordability of energy and heat,” says Agata Cieślik. “This is a priority for me, as it directly affects societal development and quality of life. The integration of various technologies presents a significant opportunity to achieve this goal, which is why I chose hydrogen as the topic of my thesis. I hope to explore different areas of energy generation and consumption in the future in order to implement innovative solutions on a larger scale.”
