As part of its bicentennial celebrations, the Warsaw University of Technology held a ceremonial gala at the Grand Theatre – Polish National Opera. The event offered a historical and musical journey through two centuries of the University’s history. The evening featured performances by artistic ensembles associated with WUT, as well as invited musicians

Individuals associated with the Warsaw University of Technology once again made their mark on the international technology scene. In recent months, they have won awards at various hackathons, developing projects in the fields of artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and business process automation.

Once again, we have strengthened our presence on the international stage, ranking 504th among 1,504 higher education institutions from 106 countries included in the 23rd edition of the QS World University Rankings (2027 edition). This result places the Warsaw University of Technology among the top 33.4% of universities worldwide featured in the ranking.

Our university has gained a new place for meetings and relaxation. The Community Pavilion has been erected on the BIS campus area, between the buildings of the Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology and the Faculty of Civil Engineering. This wooden structure was conceived and built by students and academic staff from the Faculty of Architecture as part of the Stawiamy_ initiative.

International collaboration, advanced technologies, and hands-on laboratory learning are the hallmarks of "Characterization of Modern Materials for Energy Storage", a programme offered at WUT’s Faculty of Chemistry as part of the SPINAKER programme.

In the 2026 edition of the Center for World University Rankings (CWUR), the Warsaw University of Technology was ranked 762^nd in the world. The ranking evaluated 21,291 higher education institutions, with the top-performing universities included in the Global 2000 list.

Two students from the Faculty of Chemistry at the Warsaw University of Technology will soon begin prestigious research internships in the United States as part of the BioLAB programme, carried out under the patronage of the Fulbright Foundation. Over the next year, Daria Majewska and Wiktoria Trynkos will conduct scientific research at renowned American academic and research institutions.

Daria Rutkowska, MSc, from the Faculty of Materials Science and Engineering received the Best Student Presentation Award at the international conference "International Conference for Young Scientists on Biorefinery Technologies and Products BTechPro2026", held on May 6–7, 2026, in Sigulda, Latvia.

The eighth edition of the technology conference organized by the Perspektywy Educational Foundation - one of the largest events of its kind in Europe - is just around the corner. On 10–11 June 2026, thousands of people interested in science, technology, and innovation will gather at EXPO XXI in Warsaw (12/14 Prądzyńskiego Street).

The University of Warsaw, the Warsaw University of Technology, and the IDEAS Research Institute have signed a cooperation agreement in the areas of scientific research, development work, education and training of personnel, and technology transfer related to artificial intelligence and the digital economy.

Małgorzata Adamczyk, Associate Professor at the Chair of Drug and Cosmetics Biotechnology at the Faculty of Chemistry of the Warsaw University of Technology (WUT), has been appointed a member of the Human RNome Consortium (HRPC) — a prestigious international initiative dedicated to comprehensively mapping the human epitranscriptome in order to deepen understanding of cellular mechanisms and support the development of modern therapeutic strategies.

Students from the SAE AeroDesign Student Research Group returned from the United States with several awards. In the SAE Aero Design West 2026 competition they achieved: 1^st place for technical documentation in the Regular class, as well as 3^rd place overall, 3^rd place for mission performance and 2^nd place for the presentation in the Advanced class. During the East edition they won: 1^st place for technical documentation and 7^th place for the presentation in the Regular class, as well as 5th place for technical documentation in the Advanced class.

The exhibition can be viewed until the end of June on the square by the fountain in front of the WUT Faculty of Physics building. It presents the three journeys our Nobel laureate made to the Apennine Peninsula. The exhibition brings together two anniversaries: the 100^th anniversary of Maria Skłodowska‑Curie being awarded an honorary doctorate by the Warsaw University of Technology and the 200^th anniversary of our university.

Students working in the Rocket Section design and test rocket systems and propulsion technologies. The team is currently focusing on preparing publications, including for the PAC 2026 conference, as well as on preparations for the FAR–OUT competition in the United States.

More than 15 million PLN from the European Funds for Mazovia programme will go to the Warsaw University of Technology. The funding will be allocated to the development and implementation of innovative technologies in the fields of aviation and printed electronics.

Representatives of Austrian Cooperative Research (ACR), as well as the Federal Ministry of Innovation, Mobility and Infrastructure and the Federal Ministry of Economy, Energy and Tourism, visited the Warsaw University of Technology. They met the Vice‑Rector for Research, Professor Mariusz Malinowski, and staff members from the Centre for Innovation, the Centre for Advanced Materials and Technologies CEZAMAT, and the Centre for International Cooperation. The discussions focused on technology transfer, research potential and scientific collaboration.

Students from the Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology have won the Polish edition of Red Bull Basement 2026. The SwarmHub project, developed by Piotr Piwowarczyk and Michał Szajner, was recognised as the best in the country, giving its creators the opportunity to represent Poland at the world final in San Francisco.

The Drone Section operating within the Robotics Student Research Group at the Faculty of Power and Aeronautical Engineering of Warsaw University of Technology has been active since 2023 and has quickly built a strong interdisciplinary team of around 30 members.

The Flogiston Chemical Student Research Group, operating at the Faculty of Chemistry of the Warsaw University of Technology, conducts activities in the field of materials chemistry and modern chemical technologies. One of the team’s key initiatives is the organisation of the YoungChem International Scientific Conference, now in its nineteenth edition. In parallel, the students are carrying out the PolyWIN research project, which focuses on developing a new polyester.

Students from the Faculty of Mathematics and Information Science of WUT made a strong impact at this year’s edition of the global StarkHacks hackathon in the US. The HardCounter team consisted of Piotr Czechowski, Svetlana Gridina, Mateusz Błażejowski and Denis Lisovytskiy, while the CompMech team was formed by Aleksander Jeżowski and Rafał Lasota. HardCounter won 1st place in the main Microsoft track, AI & Automation, and 2nd place in the Best Use of Viam category for the project “RackMedic” (DataCenter Automata). CompMech took 2nd place in the Ford track with their project “Zero Depth”.

The CombAIns team, composed of students from the Faculty of Mathematics and Information Science of Warsaw University of Technology, has achieved another success. During the international HackCarpathia 2026 hackathon, the team won in the MedTech category and ultimately took first place in the entire competition. Our students created the project “Be Ready”, an educational application focused on women’s health prevention. This is yet another strong performance by CombAIns at Hack Carpathia.

Representatives of the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the Warsaw University of Technology dominated the prestigious engineering competition “Hall of The Year”, organised by the Czech Technical University (ČVUT) in Prague. Our students took first and second place in the academic category, demonstrating outstanding precision in the design and optimisation of lightweight timber structures.
