The laboratory was inaugurated at WUT's Faculty of Transport

Can the worlds of engineering, technology, and art be combined? It turns out—they absolutely can! This is being demonstrated by students from two Warsaw universities—the Warsaw University of Technology and the Academy of Fine Arts—who joined forces to create the Vaporeware exhibition. The exhibition is organized by the 3D and Virtual Occurrences Studio at the Faculty of Media Art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, together with the Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art. Members of the Students' Robotics Association at the WUT collaborated on the scientific and technical aspects of part of the exhibition. 

Antonio Vassallo, PhD, from the Division of Philosophy and Ethics in Administration at the Faculty of Administration and Social Sciences, is carrying out a research project titled "A Machian Framework for Quantum Physics." The research, funded by the National Science Centre under the OPUS grant, will last three years and has a budget of PLN 1.2 million. 

LOT Aircraft Maintenance Services is implementing a product innovation focused on eliminating the currently used chemical and mechanical technologies for removing paint coatings from aluminum and composite primary and secondary aircraft structures. Aleksander Gryciuk, MSc, received the Best Presentation Award at the Microbial Innovation & Applications symposium, held as part of the 1st International Conference on Advancements of Microbiology: The relevance of microbes in tackling threats to health and environment (April 7–9, 2025, Warsaw). 

This year marks the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II. On this occasion, on May 8, we pay special tribute to researchers from the Warsaw University of Technology who, several decades ago, reverse-engineered the design of the V-1 and V-2 rockets. Flowers were laid at the monument dedicated to their memory, located in front of the Electronics Building in Nowowiejska Street.

A team led by Marta Mazurkiewicz-Pawlicka, PhD, from the Faculty of Chemical and Process Engineering at the Warsaw University of Technology, will carry out the project entitled “Advanced hybrid nanomaterials for efficient photo(electro)catalytic water purification and hydrogen production.” The project is funded under the M-ERA.NET call.

A team of students from the DREN and PEPA RG student research groups, operating at the Institute of Control and Industrial Electronics of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the Warsaw University of Technology, has advanced to the final of the International Future Energy Challenge 2025 (IFEC 2025). For the first time in history, students from Poland will represent the country in this prestigious international competition in power electronics design, which brings together teams from the world’s leading universities.

Researchers from the Faculty of Geodesy and Cartography at the Warsaw University of Technology (WUT) assessed the technical condition of historic structures using advanced photogrammetry and laser scanning.

Quantum technologies, nuclear energy, and high-energy physics are the three key areas to be integrated and strengthened by a new research centre established by the Warsaw University of Technology. C-QuaNT will foster, among other things, the collaboration of researchers and educators for implementation purposes, as well as the establishment of strategic partnerships with industry and business.

Associate Prof. Marcin Koszowy, from the Faculty of Administration and Social Sciences at the Warsaw University of Technology, has been awarded an international research grant under the Weave-UNISONO program to lead a Polish-Swiss project titled "Reasons Formulated by Others: Objections and Counterargumentation in Polylogues".

Wishes from the WUT Rector

Researchers from WUT's Faculty of Chemistry—Prof. Marek Marcinek, PhD, Maciej Marczewski, PhD, and Maciej Smoliński, MSc —set out to answer this question. As part of the ULTRADRY project, they are working on modernising battery cell production in accordance with the principles of sustainable development and ecology.

Agata Cieślik from the Faculty of Power and Aeronautical Engineering received a distinction in the 3^rd edition of the Women’s Energy in Transition – Polish Edition program, organized by Dalkia Poland. The program supports and promotes women in the energy sector, with a particular focus on the energy transition.

Research conducted at the Faculty of Geodesy and Cartography at WUT aimed to create a comprehensive information model of Prof. Hilary Koprowski’s villa – commonly known as “Koprówka.” The goal of the research and development works was to develop an HBIM model of the building and highlight its exceptional value for the cultural heritage and identity of the locality.

The Faculty of Geodesy and Cartography at the Warsaw University of Technology has been appointed by the Minister of Science and Higher Education to coordinate the task entitled: Inter-university research cooperation in the field of geodesy and cartography – “GeoIntegration” research cooperation platform.

Our University has been ranked in 11 disciplines and two subject areas: Engineering and Technology, and Natural Sciences. In five disciplines, we moved up; in another five, we maintained our position; and in one, we returned to the ranking.

Students from the Power Engineering Student Research Group at the Warsaw University of Technology have achieved success in the 2025 MEWy competition, receiving support for the development of the “Dual Power from the Sea: Integrating Wind and Wave Energy” project. Their concept involves harnessing wave energy by integrating a system of wave converters with offshore wind farm infrastructure.

The Foundation for Polish Science (FNP) concluded the third call for proposals under the International Research Agendas initiative. Three selected projects will receive a total of nearly PLN 90 million in funding. One of these is the Centre for Trustworthy Artificial Intelligence, which is to be established under the direction of Prof. Przemysław Biecek from the Faculty of Mathematics and Information Science at WUT. FNP awarded the project PLN 30 million in funding.

Paweł Rzążewski, PhD from the Faculty of Mathematics and Information Science of the Warsaw University of Technology has won a grant in the SONATA BIS-14 competition of the National Science Centre. The project "From dense graphs to sparse graphs and back" received funding in the amount of PLN 1,847,080.

The results of the MAESTRO 16 competition of the National Science Centre have been announced. The project "Organ-on-a-Chip Systems as new solutions in Preclinical Research", led by Professor Zbigniew Brzózka from the Faculty of Chemistry, has been awarded funding.

Members of the Żelbetnik Student Research Group are working on creating a digital "twin" of the building that houses the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the Warsaw University of Technology. The aim of the grant obtained is to learn and then apply the knowledge gained from BIM technology in the assessment of the technical condition of the existing building. The supervisors of the Żelbetnik Student Research Group are Maria Włodarczyk, PhD. and Paweł Chudzik, MSc.

In mid-February, the ranking list for the M-ERA.NET 3 Call 2024 was published. The list includes two projects from WUT, involving researchers from the Faculty of Materials Science and Engineering: “BAS4WIND - Basalt Fiber Composites for Sustainable Wind Energy” and “BioCAN - Development of bio-based polymers with covalently adaptable networks for recyclable natural fibre reinforced composite production”. Both projects have received funding under the program.
