EU Commissioner visiting WUT
Mariya Gabriel - responsible in the European Commission for innovation, research, culture, education and youth came to Poland. She visited The Centre for Advanced Materials and Technologies CEZAMAT, where she spoke with our researchers who introduced the guests to modern semiconductor and biotechnology laboratories.
During her visit at our University, Mariya Gabriel met with Deputy Minister of Education and Science Wojciech Murdzek, Prof. Krzysztof Zaremba, Rector of the Warsaw University of Technology and Prof. Zygmunt Lalak, Vice-Rector for Research of the University of Warsaw. The authorities of the Warsaw University of Technology were also represented by Prof. Mariusz Malinowski, Vice-Rector for Research and Prof. Adam Woźniak, Vice-Rector for Development
– I am glad that we were able to present how the Warsaw University of Technology, thanks to places such as CEZAMAT, connects the world of science with business and facilitates the creation of innovation – points out Prof. Krzysztof Zaremba, Rector of the Warsaw University of Technology.
The meeting with the Commissioner was an opportunity for the CEZAMAT authorities – director Mariusz Wielec, Prof. Elżbieta Malinowska, Deputy Director for Research and Development and Prof. Romuald Beck, Vice-President for Scientific Affairs - the potential of this extraordinary place.
– I hope that the interest of the Commissioner will help in the further development of the centre, including - above all - establishing cooperation allowing for the implementation of innovative projects of an international nature - says Mariusz Wielec, CEZAMAT director.
Mariya Gabriel's visit confirms the importance that the European Union attaches to cooperation between business and science, especially in the field of new technologies. CEZAMAT can play an important role here.
