Two first places, one runner-up and three third places are the results achieved by the team of the Warsaw University of Technology in the competition for students engaged in unmanned aerial vehicle design and construction.

Our students working within the SAE AeroDesign Inter-Faculty Student Research Group at the WUT Faculty of Power and Aeronautical Engineering took part in all Classes, i.e. Regular, Micro and Advanced.

They proved to be unbeatable in the Regular Class winning the overall and the flight competition. In addition, they were runners-up in the flight competition and third overall in the Micro Class and finished in the third place for flights and third overall in the Advanced Class.

The SAE Aero Design event ran from April 5 to April 7, 2019. College students from all over the world competed in Van Nuys, California.

The Warsaw University of Technology was represented by a team of 12: Daniel Pyś, Weronika Stolarczyk, Aleksandra Pakuła, Marcin Janoszuk, Piotr Czubak, Tomasz Raczkowski, Piotr Pacuszka, Michał Modzelewski, Justyna Głuchowska, Tomasz Sadowy Sadowski, Urszula Gołyska and Tomasz Sawina.

What does it take to prepare for such a high-class international event? A couple of weeks ago, we visited our students at their model workshop to talk about their work on aircraft. We featured a coverage of that visit on our blog WUTSquare.
