Ministerial support for students creating innovation
Success of our student research clubs
Four projects of student research clubs at the University of Technology receive funding under the second edition of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education's program "Student research clubs create innovations".
The program's aim is to assist in the implementation of innovative initiatives by student research clubs, as well as to improve the quality of their efforts and the system for transferring the technologies they develop and the results of their research to the economy.
214 projects were submitted to the competition. The funds, totaling about 6 million PLN, will be distributed to 106 projects, four of which carried out by research clubs at the WUT's Faculty of Power and Aeronautical Engineering.
Development of an algorithm for drive diagnostics as part of the integration of the PW-Sat3 satellite power supply system
Creators: Students’ Space Association
PW-Sat3 satellite is under construction. Students participating in the project intend to carry out tests of the power supply system, which is necessary for the operation of the entire satellite, in particular the propulsion system. This will allow for the detection of possible issues, increasing the overall system's reliability and the mission's chances of success.
The cold-gas drive test is the primary goal of the PW-Sat3 mission, which is why the team will simultaneously develop innovative software for the experiment module's diagnostics. The system will combine data collected from the power supply system and the drive controller to detect uncalled-for anomalies in telemetry.
Construction of local range unmanned transport aircraft with a large lifting capacity
Creators: Interdepartmental Students Research Circle SAE AeroDesign
Students will design and build two aircraft for the SAE AeroDesign international competition and, for the first time, an aircraft for the Air Cargo Challenge competition. Each of them has a completely different task.
The Micro class aircraft serves as a midsize pizza delivery service, the Regular class aircraft is a cargo aircraft simulation carrying spherical fluid tanks modeled by full-size football balls, and the Air Cargo aircraft will transport blood bags at the fastest possible speed.
Multispectral visual navigation system for use on a FOK guided missile
Creators: Student Space Association
Students will use a visual navigation system based, among other things, on artificial intelligence algorithms as part of their work on Poland's first student's guided missile. It will recognize special markers placed on the Earth.
Students also intend to construct a warhead that operates in the visible and infrared bands, and then use unmanned ships to execute unit tests on its components and verify the proper functioning of detection algorithms in real-world conditions.
Perun 2.0 – electric motorcycle design introducing innovative solutions in electromobility
Creators: Student Association for Vehicle Aerodynamics
The Perun 2.0 project includes the construction of an electric racing motorcycle, research on innovative solutions used in motorcycle construction and further promotion of electromobility. Its culmination is to be the participation in the next edition of the international MotoStudent competition.
A key part of the project is the implementation of an innovative motorcycle frame inspired by the latest solutions from the motorsport and aviation industry. As part of the development of the motorcycle, students make a unique set of carbon fiber wind deflectors, based on the results of tunnel tests carried out by the association members.
