The Centre's training activities will be aimed at a wide range of recipients, including universities, institutions, and companies involved in the implementation of nuclear projects in Poland. Polish universities and companies implementing or planning to implement nuclear projects, regulatory institutions (National Atomic Energy Agency, Office of Technical Inspection), research institutes (National Centre for Nuclear Research, Institute of Nuclear Chemistry and Technology, Łukasiewicz Research Network), and the Department of Radioactive Waste Disposal have all expressed their interest in participating in the training. There is also interest from domestic companies from the broader supply chain and the industry – in order to prepare for certifications, codes, standards and nuclear requirements specific to American technologies.

Depending on their form and specificity, training sessions will take place online or on-site, both in Poland and the United States, for example, at nuclear facilities.

The operation of the Clean Energy Training Centre (CETC) will contribute to the provision of competent staff necessary for the effective implementation of the Polish Nuclear Energy (PNE) Programme. An indispensable element of the Centre’s activities is to provide Poland with human resources that will guarantee the efficient and safe construction and operation of nuclear power plants, as well as the development of a national base of experts in the field of nuclear energy.

The establishment of CETC is related to the construction in the Pomeranian Voivodeship of Poland’s first nuclear power plant, which will have with three reactors and use American AP1000 technology.

The Department of Nuclear Energy at the Ministry of Climate and Environment is responsible for coordinating the work of the Clean Energy Technology Training Centre on the Polish side. As part of the work of the Steering Committee, together with US partners (the Department of Energy) training plans will be developed every year in accordance with current needs. These plans will identify priority thematic areas for specific actors.

The Centre was officially inaugurated by Deputy Minister of Climate and Environment Miłosz Motyka, U.S. Ambassador to Poland Mark Brzezinski and Michael Goff from the U.S. Department of Energy. The opening ceremony was also attended by the Rector of the Warsaw University of Technology, Prof. Krzysztof Zaremba, the President of the National Atomic Energy Agency, Andrzej Głowacki, and the General Director of the Chamber of Commerce, Energy and Environmental Protection, Bogdan Pilch.
