Our University nominated in a competition of Klub Twórców Reklamy
The competition jury has recognized the Warsaw University of Technology for its e-MaksPower project, where students built an electric vehicle for Maks, a young boy with disabilities.
We were nominated in the Technology category. In addition, our project was the only one recognized in the Experimental subcategory.
Twelve different projects were distinguished in the entire Technology category, with one gold sword awarded along with four silver ones, a bronze one, and six nominations. The entries selected by the jury included large-scale promotional campaigns developed for the Warsaw Rising Museum, Mastercard, Innogy Polska, Żywiec Group, Skoda or Quebonafide, a musician. Those projects were developed by well-known reputable agencies and design studios, such as Superskrypt, 180heartbeats + JUNG V. MATT, Isobar Polska or panGenerator.
The KTR competition was created by Klub Twórców Reklamy in 2004. Its aim is to reward the best, most original and creative works in the field of broadly understood advertising. Currently, prizes are awarded in four main categories: Communication, Design, Technology, and Craft. More information about the winners and nominees in this year’s KTR competition
Our nominated project
eMaksPower is an electric vehicle built by Warsaw University of Technology students for Maks – a boy suffering from muscular dystrophy and a big fan of motoring. The official premiere of the vehicle was held in WUT Main Building on 6 December 2019.
Four WUT Students’ Research Groups were involved in the project, including the Group for Vehicle Aerodynamics, Robotics Research Group (both groups operate at the Faculty of Power and Aeronautical Engineering), ADek Research Group (operating at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering) and Inter-Faculty SmartCity Research Group (operating at the
Faculty of Civil Engineering). WUT students also benefited from graphic aid rendered by Rafał Tomczak, an Industrial Design student at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw.
Thanks to the uniqueness of the project combined with effective promotional activities, the e-MaksPower premiere generated a lot of interest. Major media outlets, including TV and radio stations, newspapers and websites, also English-language ones, reported on the vehicle built by our students on the day of the premiere and for several weeks afterwards. The topic was also broadly discussed in social media. The media buzz surpassed that created in early 2018 when funding for the development of the vehicle was raised via crowdfunding channels.
The nomination for the KTR award is not the first time the project has been recognized. Before that, the promotion of e-MaksPower also received awards in the Genius Universitatis and PROMyk competitions. The vehicle has also won the main prize in the KOKOS competition and was one of the arguments in favor of the Warsaw University of Technology being granted the Award of the Electronic Economy Congress and of the "Promyk Słońca” Foundation.
The Promotion and Information Office was responsible for the design of the promotional activities nominated in the KTR competition and for preparing the competition entry.
