Piotr Bazarnik, PhD, was awarded at the NanoSPD9 international conference
A researcher from the WUT Faculty of Materials Science and Engineering was distinguished at the 9th International Conference on Nanomaterials by Severe Plastic Deformation (October 31–November 4, 2025, Beijing), one of the largest events dedicated to techniques of severe plastic deformation.
The organisers invited Piotr Bazarnik, PhD, to deliver a lecture “Hybrid nanomaterials fabricated by high-pressure torsion technique”. In recognition of his outstanding scientific achievements, the WUT scientist received the NanoSPD Young Researcher Award.
“The NaoSPD Conference is the most important scientific event in my field – you just have to be there,” says Piotr Bazarnik, PhD. “It is here that the most up-to-date and inspiring research findings in the field of highly fragmented materials are presented. Participation in this event is not only a source of new ideas for research projects for me (it was thanks to previous editions that I was inspired to write SONATINA and OPUS projects, which I later implemented at the WUT Faculty of Materials Science and Engineering), but also an excellent opportunity to start international scientific cooperation. As a result of meetings during the conference, I began my collaboration with Dr Liliana Romero-Resendiz from Liaoning Academy of Materials (China), Professor Hao Zhou from Liaoning Academy of Materials (China), Dr Roberto B. Figueiredo from Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (Brazil).”
“During the conference, I was also honoured with an award for achievements in research on materials with a highly fragmented structure, which is an extraordinary distinction for me and motivation for further scientific work,” adds Piotr Bazarnik, PhD.
This year's edition of the conference brought together over 600 participants from around the world. The programme featured plenary lectures, parallel sessions, and a poster session. The event aims to foster scientific cooperation, facilitate the exchange of experiences, and promote the development of innovative research in the international NanoSPD community.
