Professor Mariusz Malinowski among the winners of a prestigious award
The scholar of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering has received an award from the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (IES). He was honored for his outstanding contributions to the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society.
Prof. Mariusz Malinowski, Ph.D., D.Sc., Eng., heads the Institute of Control and Industrial Electronics Department of Industrial Electronics at the WUT Faculty of Electrical Engineering.
His trail of awards for his research work includes: the Siemens Prize for his doctoral thesis (2002); the Siemens Research Prize (2007); the Prime Minister of Poland Award for Habilitation (2013); and the Prime Minister of Poland 1st Team Prize for the scientific and technical achievement (2017). He is also the winner of the following international research awards: IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (IES) David Irwin Early Career Award (2011) and Bimal Bose Energy Systems Award (2015). Industrial applications by Professor Malinowski have been recognized with more than a dozen awards and medals.
The scholar has coauthored over 150 technical papers and six books.
Professor Malinowski has been actively involved in the activities of the IEEE Society; he served as a Technical Program Chair for numerous IES conferences (2003–2017); person responsible for student activity at IEEE IES (2007–2009); Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Magazine (2010–2012); Vice President for IES Workshops and Activities (2014–2015); IEEE Poland Section Chair (2016–2019); and Vice President for IES Publications (2016–2019). Currently, he is the IES President Elect (expected to take over in 2022).
The IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (IEEE IES) is part of IEEE, the world’s largest international technical professional organization (with approx. 420,000 members worldwide). The IES explores the application of electronics and electrical sciences for the enhancement of industrial and manufacturing processes. These activities address the latest developments in intelligent and computer control systems, robotics, factory communications and automation, flexible manufacturing, data acquisition and signal processing, vision systems, and power electronics. The IES has over 7,000 members worldwide.
