The Warsaw University of Technology Faculty of Chemistry joined a consortium in joint effort to administer international doctoral programs in the fast-evolving battery technologies. This is the first project of that kind to be supported by the WUT.

The DESTINY project brings together 20 universities, 12 research centers and national agencies and 8 companies in a number of European countries: France, Spain, the UK, Denmark, Germany, Slovenia and Poland. The project received funding from the European Union (Horizon 2020 Programme).

The initiative aims to produce, within 5 years, 50 doctoral degree graduates with knowledge and skills in research and technology and prepared to put them to use in the commercialization of the solutions developed.

Each consortium member has its assigned role in the project. The WUT Faculty of Chemistry is one of the partners responsible for designing high-performance materials and joints between them for development of innovative solutions for the battery industry. Directing the work at our University is Prof. Władysław Wieczorek.

Currently, the DESTINY project is in the stage of preparing topics. The project is scheduled to officially kick off on 1 October 2020. In spring 2021, selected candidates are expected to choose their topics. The first group is to start their degree program in fall 2021 and the other in fall 2022.
