What happened at our University in April? Here are the highlights of the month.
Research and innovation
- Work on PW-Sat3, the third satellite built by WUT students, is underway. The satellite is being constructed by the Students’ Space Association SKA (working at the Faculty of Power and Aeronautical Engineering).
- Self-healing roads – this sounds like drivers’ and road maintenance teams’ dream come true. Yet, it is possible. The project is performed by, inter alia, our researchers from the Faculty of Civil Engineering and the Faculty of Materials Science and Engineering.
Awards and prizes
- Our researcher from the Faculty of Civil Engineering was finalist of the 19th edition of the international competition CEMEX Förderpreis Beton Central Europe 2020.
- Projects completed or co-completed by our students took top four places in the international Student Structures Competition KOKOS.
- Student of the Faculty of Power and Aeronautical Engineering received a special award in the Interstudent 2021 competition.
WUT life
- The Warsaw University of Technology received the award HR Excellence in Research. It raises the prestige of the institution and increases the attractiveness of employment and conducting research. It also gives additional points in grant competitions of the European Commission.
- The Warsaw University of Technology signed an agreement with the Firearms Manufacturer.
- Restoration work in Politechnika Square is being done. It will restore the beauty of decorative elements of the Main Building and the area in front of it.

- Watch and listen the lecture in the "About Architecture" series organized by The WAPW Academic Association and the Faculty of Architecture of the Warsaw University of Technology. Antti Nousjoki, co-founder of ALA Architects, an architectural studio from Helsinki presented his designs.
- What do you know about Alzheimer’s Disease? Watch the meeting organized by our students from the Herbion Biotechnology Scientific Club. Dr Ewelina Stefaniak, Ph.D. graduated from the Institute of Biochemistry and Biophysics PAS in Warsaw, Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Imperial College in London was the quest.
