Eleven universities from Poland were ranked in ARWU 2022

The Warsaw University of Technology was ranked 901-1000 in the latest edition of the international ranking ARWU (Academic Ranking of World Universities), known as the Shanghai ranking. This is the same ranking as last year.

The ranking lists one thousand best universities in the world. This year the podium was taken by American universities: Harvard, Stanford and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Eleven universities from Poland were ranked in ARWU 2022. Apart from the Warsaw University of Technology these are Jagiellonian University (401-500 ranking), Warsaw University (401-500 ranking), AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków (601-700 ranking), Gdańsk University of Technology (801-900 ranking), Warsaw University of Life Sciences (801-900 ranking), Wrocław Medical University (801-900 ranking), Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań (901-1000 ranking), Medical University of Warsaw  (901-1000 ranking), Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń (901-1000 ranking) and Wrocław University of Science and Technology (901-1000 ranking).

This year’s ranking was based on six criteria: alumni and staff winning Nobel Prizes and Fields Medals, highly cited researchers (selected by Clarivate), papers published in “Nature” and ”Science”, papers indexed in the Science Citation Index – Expanded and Social Sciences Citation Index, and per capita academic performance of an institution.

ARWU has been published since 2003. It is drawn up by ShanghaiRanking Consultancy.
