WUT in the Times Higher Education by Subject ranking

The rankings were made on the basis of 13 performance indicators brought together under five categories

The Warsaw University of Technology has been ranked in four fields of the international ranking THE by Subject 2023. These are: Computer Science, Engineering, Physical Sciences, and Business and Economics.

In the field of Computer Science the Warsaw University of Technology was ranked in the group 601-800. This is the second joint ranking in Poland (behind the University of Warsaw). The same ranking as WUT was awarded to the Cracow University of Technology, Gdańsk University of Technology, the Jagiellonian University and the Silesian University of Technology. In the area of Computer Science, 974 universities were ranked, including 12 from Poland.

In the field of Engineering WUT also took the second joint place in Poland (group 801-1000), along with the AGH University of Science and Technology in Cracow, Opole University of Technology and Poznan University of Technology. The Gdansk University of Technology was ranked higher (601-800). The Engineering ranking covered 1306 universities, including 15 from Poland. Importantly, the ranking Times Higher Education by Subject on Engineering covers a few narrower disciplines. These are: General Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Civil Engineering and Chemical Engineering.

In the area of Physical Sciences the Warsaw University of Technology was ranked in the group 1001+. Among Polish universities the best ranking was achieved by the University of Warsaw (ranking 501-600) and the Jagiellonian University (ranking 601-800). In this area 17 universities from Poland were ranked, and 1307 in total. The ranking of Physical Sciences covers Psychics and Astronomy, Chemistry, Geology, Environmental, Earth and Marine Sciences, and Mathematics and Statistics.

In the area of Business and Economics the Warsaw University of Technology was ranked for the first time – in the group 801+. The best Polish universities in this area are the Gdańsk University of Technology (ranking 401-500), Copernicus University in Toruń, Poznań University of Technology and Rzeszów University of Technology (all three in the group 501-600). The ranking of Business and Economics covers 870 universities, 16 from Poland. This area includes three discipline: Business and Management, Accounting and Finance, and Economics and Econometrics.

The ranking is prepared by the journal ”The Times Higher Education” concentrating on higher education. The rankings were developed on the basis of 13 performance indicators brought together under five categories: teaching, research, citations, international outlook and industry income. The weightings allocated to each category vary according to the area they cover.
