Warsaw University of Technology Henwar SIMP Rally Team, consisting of Piotr Brakowiecki (driver) and Tomasz Chmielewski (pilot), wrapped up the 2024 season with the title of Central European vice-champions in off-road car rallies in the TH group. This marks another season in which the team has secured a spot on the podium at this competition.

The Warsaw University of Technology Henwar SIMP Rally Team competed in the TH group, also known as the prototype car category, driving a Dacia Duster that was modified by the Hołowczyc Racing team. Both the driver, Piotr Brakowiecki, and the pilot, Tomasz Chmielewski, are graduates of the Faculty of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at WUT and strive to fully apply their engineering knowledge during the rallies. This season, the team finished in an impressive second place. In the autumn, Warsaw University of Technology joined the group of title partners supporting the team.

– The 2024 off-road car rally season has come to an end, marking a period of invaluable experiences – both in sport and engineering – says Tomasz Chmielewski. – The engineering knowledge gained, in particular, will guide our plans for the car's upgrades in the upcoming season. We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to all the partners who supported us and played a part in our success – this title is another significant milestone for us. Preparations for the next season are already underway.

The pilot of the vice-champions' team is... the Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering. We wrote about Professor Chmielewski's passion for motoring and how he came to take the pilot's seat here.
