Scientists at the Warsaw University of Technology and their foreign partners want to create a platform that will minimise the consumption of energy necessary to deliver goods and services to residents. It will be a central element of modern urban logistics.

What were their inspirations?

The scientist associated with the Warsaw University of Technology was honoured with a special European SEMI Award for his contribution to the development of microelectronics in Europe. He received the award on 15 February 2023 during the Industry Strategy Symposium Europe in Vienna.

A team from the Warsaw University of Technology is working on a device to monitor the vital signs of infants during sleep. The invention is designed to detect signals of cot death and enable a quick response. The project has just been awarded in the thirteenth edition of the nationwide “Student-Inventor” competition.

The design of a house constructed of soil, wood and potato cork by students of the Faculty of Architecture of the Warsaw University of Technology was awarded twice in the fifth edition of the MICROHOME competition.

Our students from Turkey are organising a collection of donations in kind, which will help their home country combat the consequences of the earthquake. The donations should be brought to room 86 in the Warsaw University of Technology Main Building (ground floor, the former bookshop).

Getting to train or metro stations and moving inside these facilities is often a challenge, especially for persons with special needs. Now PW students want to do their bit to help.

New equipment and new possibilities

On February 3, 2023 the lists of candidates admitted to the Doctoral School of the Warsaw University of Technology were published on the Doctoral School’s website. 

Marek Kania from the Faculty of Power and Aeronautical Engineering stood on the podium of the Winter University Games in Lake Placid. Our student was third in the 500m skating race.

Sometimes the simplest solutions can make a big difference. WUT students have developed a seatbelt buckle that makes it possible to undo a seatbelt even when the standard mechanism breaks down.

With the development of biotechnology and biomedical engineering in mind, the Warsaw University of Technology and Medical University of Warsaw have signed an agreement on scientific cooperation.

New international project coordinated by WUT

The Best Paper Award 2022 for an article published in the journal "Control Engineering Practice" went to the authors from the Warsaw University of Technology: Waldemar Kołodziejczyk (a graduate of WUT) and Dr Izabela Żółtowska and Dr Paweł Cichosz from the Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology.

Efficient energy management and utility efficiency are issues that have been a priority for Warsaw University of Technology for many years. We take a number of measures to keep the costs associated with the maintenance and operation of facilities as low as possible, contributing to the University's stable financial situation.

Tomasz Wiktorowski - the coach of the world's best tennis player Iga Świątek received the award for the best coach of 2022 in our country. This was the choice made by the jury of the 88^th "Przegląd Sportowy" competition.

The launch of the third student satellite from the Warsaw University of Technology is planned for early 2024. The main mission of PW-Sat3 will be to test the propulsion system that will make the device burn up faster in the atmosphere, reducing space litter.

Experts from Poland and Norway are collecting and analysing information that will help understand how people travel around cities. The conclusions will be used to define actions that would promote a wider use of environmentally-friendly means of transport. The work is performed by a team from the WUT Faculty of Mathematics and Information Science, headed by Professor Maciej Grzenda.

The Warsaw University of Technology will receive additional funds for cooperation with Ukrainian universities. An agreement in this area was signed by the WUT Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Professor Jan Słyk and Director of the NAWA Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange, Dawid Kostecki, PhD.

Researchers from the Faculty of Physics of the Warsaw University of Technology and Białystok University, thanks to their cooperation with Japanese and Dutch scientists, have proposed a novel method of recording 3D holographic images. The results of their work were published in „Nature Communications”.
