We would like to inform you that the funeral ceremony, including the Holy Mass, will be held on 17 February 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at the Funeral House at Powązki Military Cemetery, 43/45 Powązkowska Street, followed by the procession to the place of burial. A condolence book will be available from 16 to 18 February in the Main Hall of the Main Building of the Warsaw University of Technology.

Everyday problems often inspire revolutionary solutions. This was the case for Łukasz Bereś, a doctoral student at the Faculty of Power and Aeronautical Engineering at the Warsaw University of Technology, who created a vehicle powered by a gantry type drive system. The idea for a machine that combines features of a bicycle, a car, and a gym, emerged in response to a very practical issue: getting to the university.

In recent years, Warsaw has seen the development of numerous multifunctional complexes emerging on the sites of former industrial facilities. This phenomenon has been examined by Dr Maria Arno, author of the article ‘Integrating Museum Narratives in the Adaptation of Post Industrial Heritage to Multifunctional Buildings in Warsaw, Poland’, published in the journal Muzeologia a Kulturne Dedicstvo.

A consortium composed of Screenmed sp. z o.o. (leader) and the Centre for Advanced Materials and Technologies (CEZAMAT) at the Warsaw University of Technology has been named among the winners of the STEP A – Biotechnologie competition. The StepDiag project titled “Functionalised magnetocatalytic nanoparticles in lab on foil systems and digital microfluidics for the detection of medical biomarkers” has received funding of 9,992,666.43 PLN.

A team of students from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the Warsaw University of Technology has qualified for the semi-finals of the prestigious International Future Energy Challenge. The competition will take place on 22 March 2026 in San Antonio, United States, bringing together the best academic teams from around the world working on innovative solutions in the field of power electronics.

Researchers from the Warsaw University of Technology – Anna Jackiewicz-Zagórska, PhD, and Prof. Jarosław Milewski – have been selected as recipients of the Fulbright STEM Impact Award. The programme is aimed at active researchers representing STEM fields who are employed at Polish academic or research institutions. During the six-week scholarship period, the awardees carry out their own research or research and teaching project and gain knowledge in areas such as science commercialisation and grant proposal writing at a selected institution in the United States.

We now know the results of the latest THE Rankings by Subject 2026. The Warsaw University of Technology has been classified in five subject areas. In the field of Computer Science, we ranked as the second-best university in Poland.

The Warsaw University of Technology has taken 202nd place in Europe in the latest edition of the QS World University Rankings: Europe 2026, while also ranking third in Poland (behind the University of Warsaw and the Jagiellonian University) and confirming its position as the highest‑ranked technical university in the country. WUT has also maintained its position in the Top 10 of the Eastern Europe ranking, holding on to seventh place.

From 9 to 12 January 2026, representatives of the Warsaw University of Technology participated in an educational mission in the United States, organised by the Capital City of Warsaw Office in cooperation with the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in New York, the Warsaw Tourism Organisation, and the Polish Youth Association based in New York. The visit was an opportunity to meet with the Polish diaspora, hold talks about cooperation, and promote our University.

Cancer remains one of the greatest challenges in medicine today. Each year, it causes approximately 10 million deaths worldwide. Although therapeutic options continue to expand, chemotherapy remains the foundation of treatment in many cases. One of the most commonly used drugs is cisplatin – known for over forty years. It is a potent anticancer agent, but its use is associated with numerous adverse effects and the growing problem of cancer cell resistance.

A team of researchers from the University of Warsaw continued their work in Libya. This time, in the non-invasive research of the acropolis in Ptolemais, Libya, initiated in December 2024, two researchers from the Warsaw University of Technology took part. Anna Lejzerowicz, PhD, from the Faculty of Civil Engineering at WUT investigated the geological structure of this area, while Paweł Czernic, a doctoral candidate from the Faculty of Geodesy and Cartography at WUT — returning to Ptolemais for his second research campaign — conducted advanced geodetic surveys and mapping.

Organ transplantation saves the lives of many patients in Poland and around the world. Unfortunately, the number of people waiting for transplants far exceeds the number of available donors, and this gap continues to widen. Researchers associated with the Warsaw University of Technology decided to address this challenge by developing a system for the storage, transport, and monitoring of kidneys intended for transplantation.

Researchers from the QCI Lab team, operating at the Faculty of Mechatronics, WUT, have completed the INHOLO (in-line holography) project, which aimed to develop off-axis holographic microscopy techniques. The work involved a comparative study of two different off-axis holographic QPI (quantitative phase imaging) microscopy techniques – DIHM and TIE.

Professor Tomasz Kozacki from the Faculty of Mechatronics at the Warsaw University of Technology was among the laureates of the Weave-UNISONO competition for Polish-Flemish research teams. The professor and his team will focus their research on ultra-wide-angle and ultra-high-resolution holography.

We commemorate it as successors to the ideas and legacy of the Preparatory School for the Polytechnic Institute, founded on the initiative of Stanisław Staszic in 1826.

The team led by Prof. Artur Kasprzak from the Faculty of Chemistry conducts research in the field of mechanochemistry, which is one of the fastest‑growing techniques in organic synthesis. For their work, the researchers needed a ball mill. They built one themselves: it is cheaper than commercially available solutions and offers new capabilities.

Researchers from the Institute of Radioelectronics and Multimedia Technology at the Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology are involved in the T2K experiment in Japan. A joint analysis of neutrino‑oscillation data from the T2K experiment and the NOvA experiment in the United States has been published in the prestigious journal Nature. The publication was co‑authored by Dr Robert Kurjata, Dr Andrzej Rychter, Dr Marcin Ziembicki and Krzysztof Dygnarowicz, Msc.

Students of the Faculty of Architecture enrolled in the English‑medium course Contemporary Building Materials visited the Faculty of Civil Engineering, where they worked with architectural concrete, creating their own sculptural forms. The joint workshop offered an opportunity for creative experimentation and an important lesson in interdisciplinary collaboration.
