This season was another stage of development and a test of a new design for the Proton Dynamic team. Students from the Warsaw University of Technology competed with their PD 2.5 race car in two prestigious Formula Student rounds: in Austria and in the Czech Republic.

Aleksander Pizoń and Zofia Nowicka from the Faculty of Chemistry at the Warsaw University of Technology took part in the Erasmus+ programme. Thanks to this, they spent several months studying at Université Paris-Saclay and experiencing life in Paris.

Two teams from the Warsaw University of Technology made it into the top ten of the European Rover Challenge 2025. SKA Robotics from the Students' Space Association took 8th place, while the KNR Rover Team from the Robotics Student Research Group (KNR) placed 9th and additionally won the Probing task.

Although we usually associate earthworms with gardens and soil aeration, they can also play an important role in environmental remediation. Some species of these invertebrates are capable of cleaning up soils contaminated with crude oil and its derivatives.

Artur Werys, student of the WUT Faculty of Physics, is spending his holidays in an unusual way – he’s working on a prototype of the FoCal-H detector, which will be part of the ALICE experiment. Arthur’s stay is taking place thanks to the CERN programme SPARC (Student Engineering Internships) 2025. Its participants complete internships under the supervision of experts and develop solutions that then support CERN’s research equipment.

Cyber Sea and Fellow Gamedecs – these are two out of 10 teams that qualified to the Cyberiada finals, Championships in Computer Games Design for students. Oliwia Pawlicka and Zuzanna Kluczek, WUT students, along with their teams, at the beginning of September will compete for the first place. The competition finals will take place in Łódź during CD-Action Expo 2025, one of the biggest gaming events in Poland.

Since June, at the Żyrardowski Reservoir, SUPOMAT has been working - the first self-service rental station of Stand Up Paddle boards (SUP) in Poland. It was developed by a Polish technological start-up Zaklepuje.To, founded by Jakub Jażdżyk – student of the WUT Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology. The innovative project digitalises the water sports market by offering spontaneous and self-service 24/7 access to equipment.

Anna Łabęda, MSc, from the Faculty of Materials Science and Engineering at Warsaw University of Technology took part in the International Symposium on Innovation and Future Perspective in Silsesquioxane Chemistry (IFSC 2025) and the accompanying Summer School & Young Scientists Forum, held from 18 to 31 July 2025. The event, organized by Shandong University (山东大学) in Jinan (China) under the leadership of Prof. Hongzhi Liu, brought together researchers from all over the world, creating a unique space for the exchange of knowledge and experience.

KNR Rover Team and SKA Robotics are two student research groups from Warsaw University of Technology that will take part in the eleventh edition of the prestigious robotics and space competition European Rover Challenge (ERC). The teams will face their rivals in the grand finals, which will take place on 29–31 August on the campus of the AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków.

The distinguished designs were created by: Tomasz Szenajch, Aleksandra Snopkowska, Przemysław Sasin and Agnieszka Wardzińska.

Professor Artur Kasprzak is this year’s winner of the prestigious distinction - 2025 Rising Star in Organic & Inorganic Chemistry - awarded by the American Chemical Society (ACS). This distinction is awarded annually to young researchers who do breakthrough research in the field of chemistry and who stand out through their extraordinary scientific activity and high quality academic achievements.

During a thrilling grand final of the competition Future Energy Challenge 2025, our students won by beating the best teams from, among others, Taiwan, India or USA. The team comprises students from student research associations DREN and PEPA RG operating at the Warsaw University of Technology Faculty of Electrical Engineering. The substantiative supervisors of the team were Krzysztof Kalinowski, MA, and Professor Jacek Rąbkowski.

Nina Dobroczyńska, Emiliya Skipar and Julian Hendigery from the Warsaw University of Technology Faculty of Architecture (WAPW) created a project of a model school resistant to earthquakes in challenging Himalayan conditions. A requirement of the Nepal School Project competition was the use of natural materials and designing the facility in line with the environment. Our students won the main prize in the competition.

The OrbitWUT team, composed of students from Warsaw University of Technology, received the prestigious ArianeGroup Award in the Student Aerospace Challenge 2024/25. The competition, organized by the Astronaut Club Européen in cooperation with the European Space Agency (ESA), ArianeGroup, and Dassault Aviation, brought together teams from leading technical universities across Europe.

Professor Mariusz Zdrojek and Anna Wróblewska, PhD, from the Faculty of Physics at Warsaw University of Technology are taking part in a research project aimed at developing innovative materials for passive heating and cooling of buildings, drawing inspiration from nature. The research team will investigate how black butterflies and spiders absorb light, while white insects reflect it – all in pursuit of better thermal management in buildings.

Cezary Kraśkiewicz, PhD, and Prof. Artur Zbiciak led two major BRIK (Railway Innovation Research and Development) projects at Warsaw University of Technology (WUT). These initiatives resulted in the development of prototype technologies aimed at reducing noise and vibrations caused by railway traffic. In January 2025, PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A. signed perpetual license agreements for the use of these solutions, marking a milestone in their practical implementation.
